Sunday Talks, 8/5/12

With the Republican and Democratic national conventions on the near horizon, the two national party chairmen anchor this Sunday’s television talk shows.

Republican Reince Priebus of Wisconsin and Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida are both on ABC’s “This Week.”

CNN’s “State of the Union” has former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, now a senior Obama campaign adviser, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), National Republican Senatorial Committee Vice Chairwoman Carly Fiorina, a former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, and Robert Johnson, founder of the Black Entertainment Television.

CBS’s “Face the Nation” has Republican Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, former Democratic Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, former Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.).

CBS also plans to air the taped interview with former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, which was pushed back last Sunday by an interview with the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney.

NBC’s “Meet the Press” is preempted this Sunday by the network’s continuing coverage of the Olympic games in London.
