There IS a Difference

There is a difference between questioning your opponent’s record, and questioning his citizenship.

There is a difference between presenting the facts of your opponent’s tenure in office, and presenting totally fabricated bullshit as fact.

There is a difference between leading voters to your way of thinking, and misleading them with outright lies.

There is a difference between seeing the citizenry as your fellow Americans, and seeing them as you people.

There is a difference between demanding transparency from your opponent, and claiming privilege when it comes to disclosing your own affairs.

There is a difference between claiming to be a successful businessman, a competent governor, and a ‘savior’ of the Olympics, and expunging the records that might serve to shed light on those claims.

There is a difference between claiming to have paid your fair share in taxes, and refusing to produce the tax returns that would confirm it.

There is a difference between stating you have a grasp of foreign affairs, and being able to speak to our foreign allies without insulting them.

There is a difference between having served your country in the trenches of Viet Nam, and having served your church in the trenches of a French chateau.

There is a difference between taking pride in your accumulation of wealth, and taking responsibility for having earned it by destroying the livelihoods of others.

There is a difference between acknowledging the plight of the working class, and being willing to do something about it.

There is a difference between tithing the requisite amount to the hierarchy of your church, and giving freely to those in need regardless of their religious beliefs.

There is a difference between simply having been born white, and holding it out as though it’s an accomplishment or a sign of superiority.

There is a difference between claiming to believe in the importance of the nation’s financial well-being, and stashing your millions where it does you the most good.

There is a difference between discussing the challenge of reducing the deficit, and pretending it wasn’t your party and your own POTUS who caused it in the first place.

There is a difference between trying to get the vote out for your party, and trying to prevent likely voters for the other party from voting at all.

There is a difference between telling women that you respect their views, and telling women their rights need not be respected.

There is a difference between a woman’s right to choose, and a politician’s alleged right to choose for her.

There is a difference between inviting minorities onstage to speak up for your party, and inviting minorities to live in your neighborhood, attend your church, belong to your country club.

There is a difference between lauding the dedication of teachers, and condemning the unions that keep their wages and working conditions at an acceptable level.

There is a difference between talking about the importance of Americans having jobs, and obstructing every initiative to get them back to work.

There is a difference between putting yourself in a favorable light by stating the facts, and putting your opponent in a bad light by ignoring the facts.

There is a difference between proudly rattling your war saber, and humbly acknowledging the service of those who have fought the battles.

There is a difference between criticizing programs that offer healthcare, food stamps, and financial assistance to millions, and demeaning those who are in need of those programs.

There is a difference between the right-wing interpretation of Christianity, and the teachings of one Jesus Christ (D – Mankind).

There is a difference between being a Republican and being a douchebag – albeit a very slim difference these days.
