A word with Richard “The Dick” Cheney:
You recently made the following statement on the Sean Hannity Show:
“I watched Benghazi with great interest, Sean, and I think it is one of worst incidents, frankly, that I can recall in my career.”
Really, dick? Apparently your memory of the events you’ve seen over the span of your career is faulty at best, or you are yet again engaging in a deliberate, self-serving attempt to catapult the propaganda your administration was famous for.
I would think (as would most people, I’m sure) that lying a nation into war might stand out in one’s memory as one of the “worst incidents” to be recalled in one’s career – especially when one was actually the author of those lies.
Let me refresh your memory as to what YOU are responsible for – and maybe you can explain your faulty memory to the following:
Every soldier who lost his or her life fighting a war based on your lies.
Every child growing up without a mom or a dad, because a parent never made it home from their tour.
Every mother and father who grieves the loss of a son or daughter who died on a battlefield created for your political goals.
Every widow and widower who will never hold a beloved spouse again due to your malicious dishonesty.
Every man or woman who had to bury a cherished brother or sister, niece or nephew, cousin or friend, as a result of your blatant untruths.
Every community that lost a neighbor, a local merchant, a selfless firefighter, a dedicated teacher, a devoted healthcare practitioner, a skilled craftsman, an auto mechanic, a plumber, an electrician – and all of those who contributed to their community in ways great and small.
Every soldier who will spend his/her life in a wheelchair, or a hospital bed – every soldier who will never experience another peaceful night’s sleep due to the nightmares they came to know in the furtherance of your contrived “war.”
Add to the above every Iraqi mother who watched her child killed or maimed due to your lies, or cradles a baby born with horrific birth defects thanks to your endless pursuit of carnage at any cost.
Every Iraqi father who was made to stand helplessly as he saw his son dragged off to Abu Ghraib, or cried hopelessly as his traumatized daughter described the violence she witnessed and endured.
Every Iraqi citizen who saw their beautiful country systematically destroyed, their culture spat upon, their priceless art stolen, their invaluable archaeological treasures pillaged, their revered ancient sites reduced to rubble.
Every Iraqi child who was orphaned, every school that was leveled, every hospital that was blown out of existence, every business that was shuttered, every citizen who had his religious beliefs disgraced, every man, woman and child who watched their homeland decimated while you masturbated to the sounds of “shock and awe.”
Every man or woman who was imprisoned, every man or woman who was tortured; every potential ally who was turned into a potential terrorist, bent on revenge against all Americans for what was done to their people, under your direction, in America’s name.
Every world citizen who once revered the American way of life, and now despises it. Every global neighbor who once respected our nation, and now abhors it. Continue reading A WORD, If I May?
As I read the various articles, blogs, and political message boards discussing the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, I can’t help but be reminded of the brave men and women of the mainstream media, who – as the nation stood poised to launch on a misadventure of mammoth proportions and unimagined consequences – picked up their poms-poms and cheer-led a president and an administration that had already proven themselves to be incompetent decision-makers at best, and lying warmongers at worst.
Of course, we all now know the latter proved to be the case, beyond all reasonable doubt.
So I thought this would be an appropriate time to ask a few questions of our illustrious “news reporters/journalists”, with a view to getting some answers that might enlighten us all as to exactly what it is that causes once-aspiring truth-tellers to turn into people who will lie to their own countrymen in order to make a buck.
My questions are as follows:
When you find your vision completely obscured as though you are trapped in a narrow, dark tunnel, do you immediately realize that the sensation is caused by your head being, yet again, stuck firmly up your own ass? As a follow-up question: When your head is stuck up inside someone else’s ass, can you tell the difference between one asshole and another?
At what point in your career did you lose your ethics? Was it all at once, or was it due to a gradual wearing away of that part of you where your obligation to your profession and your loyalty to your fellow citizens also used to be?
Has the term “journalistic non-integrity” become part of the reporters’ lexicon, or do you pretend amongst yourselves that you still have integrity, all evidence to the contrary? Or have you simply changed the definition of the word “integrity” to now mean a lack thereof , in which case you can proudly boast that you are indeed – uh, full of it.
Does your paycheck include bonuses for things like (a) being a spineless shill for the corporations that own your network or sponsor your “news” programming, (b) perfecting the art of “going to commercial” when someone confronts you with the truth, (c) standing outside in a hurricane because your viewers are too fuckin’ stupid to know what a hurricane is without constant visual reminders each time one occurs?
Are fledgling on-air newscasters expected to be able to lie convincingly from their first day on the job? Or are occasional slip-ups, where actual facts might be inadvertently blurted out, overlooked due to whatever remaining vestiges of truth-telling they learned in journalism class having not been completely expunged – yet?
Do you ever experience a twinge of conscience when you look straight into the camera and lie to the American public? Or was your conscience surgically removed as part of the terms of your employment?
Did you ever want to grow up to be a conscientious news reporter? Or did you always want to grow up to be a professional propagandist who will say anything for money?
Can you pinpoint the day you decided to sell your soul for financial compensation? Do you celebrate the anniversary of that day each year by buying yourself something extravagant as a reminder of exactly why selling your soul was worth it? Continue reading Dear Alleged News Reporter/Journalist
Well, it looks like I’m still on Lil’ Ricky Santorum’s email list. I could ask to be removed, but his senseless ramblings are just too damned entertaining to give up. A guilty pleasure on my part? Absolutely.
His Frothiness is now sharing his stupidity via a group he founded called Patriot Voices – obviously established as an attempt to remain politically relevant. I can only suppose that when Bobby Jindal recently stated that Republicans have to stop being the Party of Stupid, Ricky didn’t get the message. Apparently, Ricky did lose that number after all.
Ricky’s most recent PV emails have been fact-free diatribes (FFD being a language he speaks fluently) about how the national security of the US will be utterly destroyed should Chuck Hagel be appointed Secretary of Defense, and how Obama & The Dems are out to annihilate the Second Amendment, because registering guns and insisting on background checks would be an invasion of the privacy of weapon owners – and if a few potential murderers of kindergartners slip through the cracks, that’s something we should all just learn to live with, or die from, as the case may be.
But today’s missive from everyone’s favorite dead-baby-fondler was intriguing, to say the least:
Today at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) outside of Washington, I launched the American Dream Challenge, where we want to know what your American dream is. Join us by taking the challenge and answering this question: What is your American Dream and what are you doing to make it happen?
Simply click on the link (What is your American Dream and what are you doing to make it happen?) and let us know what your dream is and what you are doing to attain it. We at Patriot Voices are committed to starting a candid conversation about what Americans see as their American dream and what can be done to make it happen.
Each of us has our own idea about what it is to attain the American dream, and we want to share those ideas as part of this discussion. I look forward to hearing about your American dream.
Admittedly, I simply could not resist the invitation to respond:
My American Dream begins with all Americans enjoying the same rights and freedoms, regardless of color, ethnicity, gender, religion, social status, financial well-being, or sexual orientation.
My American Dream would mean a nation where our children’s education is based on history as it was, not on some conservative nutcase’s rewriting thereof, and science based on actual facts, not on some religious idiocy that enshrines the Bible while dismissing what is known about the universe in which we live. Above all, my American Dream would recognize the separation of Church and State – just as The Founders envisioned it.
My American Dream consists of would-be Americans – who have proven their work ethic, their desire to contribute to their communities and the nation as a whole, and have raised their children with the same values – becoming citizens as expediently as possible. (If you think there would be too many citizens as a result of same, I will gladly provide a list of those whose citizenship could be revoked, in order to make room for those who truly take the ideals of democracy to heart, regardless of their country of origin.)
My American Dream would entail less war and more diplomacy, less money spent on weapons and more money spent on things that would benefit not only Americans, but our global neighbors as well. It would encompass recognizing that we, as a nation, have as much to learn from the global community as we have to teach, and we would conduct ourselves accordingly. If you’ve ever watched Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, you know the inevitable lead-in to every show: a harried restaurant owner bemoans the fact that he’s losing customers by the dozens, but is always quick to point out that his food (invariably self-described as nothing less than fabulous!) could not possibly be the cause of the decline in business. They will blame their wait staff’s laziness, the chef’s inattentiveness to detail, even a poor choice of china, flatware, and decor. But the food, they will insist, can’t possibly be the problem.
And so it now goes with the GOP, who – after what passes for thoughtful introspection and intelligent discussion among its PTB (cue laugh track here) – have determined that the fare they are selling to the voting public is as tasty and nutritious as ever, and the lack of loyal customers is simply a matter of failing to promote the same old/same old menu items they’ve offered up for decades.
“It’s not the platform of the party that’s the issue,” stated Reince Priebus, the recently thawed-and-reheated RNC chairman. “In many cases, it’s how we communicate about it. It is a couple dumb things that people have said.”
No offense to Mr. Priebus – who is probably no better at math than he is winning elections – but by my count, the dumb things said by Republicans during last year’s presidential campaign alone numbers in the hundreds. And “dumb” hardly describes some of the statements made, which were more in the category of baseless, fact-free, easily debunked lies, with a side order of bullshit. But to be fair, the bullshit is always served on an all-you-can-eat basis, offered up on pristine white china that may be old and cracked, but deemed still serviceable by management.
“We don’t need a new pair of shoes; we just need to shine our shoes,” opined West Virginia national committeewoman Melody Potter, the idea being that if you serve shit sandwiches on carefully polished plates, the world will beat a path to your deli counter.
Of course, the Republican party’s strict rule has always been no shoes, no shirt = no service, and the shoeless and shirtless (i.e. women, minorities, welfare and food-stamp recipients, veterans, the disabled, the homeless, the sick, etc.) have traditionally been turned away due to a lack of available seating, while “Reserved for Old White Men” placards grace every table.
“The principles are sound,” said former RNC chairman, Mike Duncan. “Enlarging the map means reaching out to a lot more people and having a consistent dialogue with those people… It’s inviting them in. It’s communicating with them in the proper forums: it’s not just language but where they’re reading. It’s explaining the values to them.”
Yeah, that’s the ticket, Mike. It’s time to start inviting in the very people the GOP has dismissed as takers-not-makers, parasites whose only sustenance comes from suckling at the government teat, the minorities who have been told their place is in the kitchen scrubbing pots, and the women who have been permitted to dine alongside their male counterparts so long as they STFU and allow the men to not only dominate the dinner conversation, but choose which menu items the ladies will be allowed to eat.
“We can stand by our timeless principles and articulate them in ways that are modern, relevant to our time and relatable to the majority of voters,” said Priebus. “That, I believe, is how we’ll achieve a Republican renewal.”
Despite the GOP’s claims that they only need some new signage out front and a more pleasing font on the menus, the fact remains that the “principles” they believe they should be explaining to the citizenry are not principles at all. They are the same long-held policies – on everything from immigration to healthcare, from education to a woman’s right-to-choose – that are so far past their expiry date, they are not only unpalatable; they are likely to cause ptomaine poisoning.
“When it comes to young people, when it comes to new African-American leaders, Hispanic leaders, we really have done an incredible job over the last few years,” Preibus continued. “We’ve just done a lousy job bragging about it.” Continue reading Food for Thought
To: Mike Huckabee (R-Douchebag)
To say that your recent remarks in response to the tragic events that unfolded at Sandy Hook are despicable would be a vast understatement. They were in fact beneath contempt – as are you.
“We ask why there is violence in our schools, but we have systematically removed God from our schools. Should we be so surprised that schools would become a place of carnage?”
First off, let’s be completely honest with each other, shall we? We both know you are a godless fuck who will say anything to appease the gun-toting voters who have traditionally supported your party.
Rather than risk losing that support by laying blame at the feet of those responsible, you instead choose to conjure up a vengeful God who allows the massacre of children out of sheer spite at not being prayed to in our classrooms, an arrogant God whose need to be worshipped and adored at every turn is so overwhelming, he smiles with glee as his revenge for being somehow marginalized is carried out by a gun-wielding, troubled young man – who was, given his years, not much more than a child himself.
In other words, you would sooner blame God – or the egomaniacal deity you are conveniently proffering as the Almighty – rather than admit to your own failures and those of your party members, who would sooner get down on their knees and felate every NRA member in the nation rather than lose their votes.
It isn’t God who allows assault weapons to be bought and sold, Huck; it’s people like you. It isn’t God who foments bigotry, hatred, intolerance and racism; it’s the idols of your party – like Limbaugh, Coulter and Beck. It isn’t God who loaded his weapons and took aim at a group of six- and seven-year-olds; it was a disturbed young man who never would have had access to such weapons were it not for the GOP’s desperate attempt to hold onto political power by supporting the NRA – and, along with it, every gun-nut who falls through the cracks of the flawed legislation your party seeks to uphold, the consequences be damned.
When President Obama was elected, the first outcry we heard from Republicans was, “He’ll take our guns away,” rather than, “He’ll take our Christianity away.” It was the number of weapons purchased since his taking office that went up – not the number of those attending church, nor the number of Bibles sold. So much for the priorities of the gun-toters whose “rights” your party consistently protects, while you hold them out as good, patriotic, Christian citizens who are merely interested in protecting themselves and their families.
“We’ve made it a place where we don’t want to talk about eternity, life, what responsibility means, accountability – that we’re not just going to have be accountable to the police if they catch us, but one day we stand before, you know, a holy God in judgment. If we don’t believe that, then we don’t fear that.”
As any true Christian can tell you, Huck, their determination to live a moral and ethical life is based on having embraced the teachings of The Nazarene, and not fear of eternal damnation. But then I doubt you are acquainted with any true Christians, so I can understand your not being familiar with the concept.
But the irony is not lost – the irony of hearing a Republican talking about responsibility and accountability, when your party accepts neither. It’s easier to blame a vengeful God of your own making – like that non-existent God who punished NOLA for its gay pride parades by causing Katrina’s devastation, the God who visits hurricanes and floods on innocent people due to their belief in equal rights for their fellow citizens regardless of sexual orientation – rather than accepting responsibility for legislation that allows weapons to be placed in the hands of those too twisted, too full of hatred, too mentally unbalanced to use them responsibly.
“Maybe we ought to let [God] in on the front end and we wouldn’t have to call him to show up when it’s all said and done at the back end.”
Yeah, I hear that noise, Huck – and I remember the perfect case in point. In 1998, one David Huckabee was dismissed from his job as a counselor at a Boy Scout camp after being involved in torturing a stray dog by hanging it from a tree limb and watching it slowly choke to death. One can only wonder what totally fucked-up home that boy was raised in – but apparently it was one in which God wasn’t “let in on the front end”. Maybe the kid’s father was just too damned busy being a hypocrite to notice. Continue reading Fuck Huck
Well, it seems I’m still on your mailing list – the one compiled for your incredibly abysmal presidential campaign, which has now been assumed by your equally idiotic venture, “Patriot Voices.” I suppose I could unsubscribe – but where’s the fun in that? To be honest, I’d miss the laughs.
Your latest diatribe begins:
“President Obama isn’t only insisting that House Republicans raise taxes. He’s also refusing to make any major spending cuts! But I imagine you haven’t heard that on the news.”
No, actually I haven’t heard that on the news. Maybe that’s because it isn’t true. While I have little respect for the mainstream news media these days, every once in a while they actually refrain from passing utter bullshit off as the truth. Granted, it’s a more rare occurrence than it should be, but these are the times in which we live.
“We need to make sure the American people understand that the Obama Administration is refusing to negotiate and that the President is the one who is going to cause tax rates for middle class Americans to skyrocket.”
Well, here’s the thing, Ricky: the above statement is exactly the kind of bullshit I was referring to. What this all comes down to – in terms simple enough for even you to grasp – is that your party wants social programs (which assist those among us in dire need) pared down to the bone, so that billionaires won’t face the horrific prospect of paying higher taxes that amount to a pittance as compared to their wealth.
Now, when you can explain the fairness of that concept, I’ll be all ears. But so far, I haven’t heard word one from your side of the aisle to justify the idea that hard-working middle-class Americans and/or the poor should tighten their belts in order for a CEO making seven figures a year to maintain his lifestyle.
“Right now the American people are only hearing one side of the story. Every day they are being bombarded with liberal propaganda about how the President is acting ‘responsibly.’”
I can understand your confusion. Acting “responsibly” is as alien to you and your Republican colleagues as things like empathy, fairness, justice, etc. I admit to my own confusion when you refer to “liberal propaganda” – did you mean to say “the truth”? I’ve noticed a decided penchant for right-wingers to confuse the two.
“However, the truth is the President hasn’t budged one inch in his belief that spending shouldn’t be significantly cut and entitlements don’t need to be reformed. He even wants to raise the debt ceiling!”
Oh, noes! Obama wants to raise the debt ceiling in order to deal with the financial clusterfuck your party created! You do realize that the debt ceiling was raised seven times during the Dubya administration (hey, remember him!?!) and, funnily enough, I don’t remember your big fuckin’ yap being opened even once. In fact, I don’t remember your fellow party members even questioning where that money would come from, or whose pockets it would eventually wind up in without a scintilla of accountability. But that was then, and this is now – right, Ricky?
“Republicans are the only adults in Washington. And their position is simple: if the President doesn’t agree to cut spending, our economy is headed for disaster!”
Seriously, dude – if the Republicans are the “adults” in Washington, the entire country is headed for disaster. Fortunately, the citizenry recently voted in accordance with who they think the adults are – and it wasn’t the GOP. Unfortunately, the whining cries from the Kiddie Table can still be heard. But we all have our crosses to bear.
“If we are going to force Barack Obama to do right by the American people, then we have to win the public relations battle. Patriot Voices is taking the lead in this fight, and we are going to take the liberal media head on.”
Barack Obama has been doing right by the American people – from his efforts to lead the US down the path to the same kind of healthcare coverage that the rest of the industrialized nations of the world have successfully implemented, to the recognition of the importance of affordable higher learning (something you and your buddies could really use, BTW), to standing up for the rights of gays/lesbians, to attempting to pay down the debt your party’s last Failure-in-Chief was so quick to run up, while you were cheerleading from the sidelines. After a lifetime of being a liberal Democrat, I thought I’d take a walk on the wild side and try to embrace the right-wingitude brigade, just to see what the GOP is offering these days to its membership.
However, after perusing the brochures and other related material, I find myself with more than a few questions about the organization. Could some Republican please answer my queries? As always, spelling does count – so don’t hesitate to ask for assistance!
I’ve heard from several GOP quarters that the Republicans have always been the party of the working man. I’m trying to find a single thing that the Republicans have done for the hard-working middle-class in recent history, but keep coming up empty. Could you possibly remind me of the many, many things the GOP has accomplished on their behalf? TIA.
You seem to be promoting the same old “trickle-down” theory, along with the notion that if the wealthy “job creators” have little regulation and lower tax burdens, jobs will be plentiful. You’ve advanced this theory before – and have acted upon it. Can you tell me where all the jobs are as a result of doing things your way? TIA.
Being of the female persuasion, I think young women should have role models to look to for guidance should they decide on a career in politics – or as much of a political career as females can expect to have in the Republican Party. All I’ve found thus far are crazed psycho-bitches like Ann Coulter, mean-to-the-bone harridans like Jan Brewer, so-dumb-I-don’t-realize-my-husband-is-gay ditzes like Michele Bachmann, and the ever-popular Sarah Palin, who has yet to express a single coherent thought. I would be more than appreciative if you could send me a list of RW females who aren’t bat-shit crazy. TIA.
I thought that a careful study of your recent POTUS/VPOTUS candidates would enlighten me as to how the Republicans would better govern than a Democratic prez and vice-prez. Romney and Ryan seemed to have so much going for them – if you don’t count the lies, the obfuscation, the out-of-our-ass facts and statistics, etc. If you could compile a list of things they said, individually or collectively, that have any connection to reality, I might be on my way to understanding what the fuck they were talking about. TIA.
Your religious icons are, while not wholly respectable, totally recognizable. However, I admit to being confused when men like Billy Graham do a complete 180 on Mormonism, having deleted all references to it being a “cult” on his website after years of declaring that is exactly what Mormonism is. Given the hissyfit the GOP had over Obama’s religious beliefs, I was under the impression that complete transparency about one’s faith is sacrosanct in RW circles. Where can I go to find out more about the Planet Kolob? It sounds like a place where “good Christian family values” are held in high esteem, given the appropriate Magic Underwear is worn while famous dead people are posthumously baptized into “the faith.” TIA.
While we’re on the topic of transparency, will Mitt Romney be releasing his tax returns anytime soon? I just KNOW I’ll have a much better sense of what the Republicans stand for if I can see exactly how much money their most recent candidate has parked offshore in tax-free havens, and how much he profited by shipping US jobs overseas. Perhaps his business model can be used by other patriotic citizens so as to keep America safe from terrorist organizations like the IRS? TIA.
In addition, I wonder if Romney can explain his Five Point Plan to reduce the deficit, lower taxes across-the-board, and still balance the budget. He promised to do so after the election – but never specified that he had to win before disclosing his plan. It seems rather unpatriotic for someone who claims to have a definitive way of accomplishing something so overwhelmingly positive for the country to keep it to himself – in the same way McCain said he “knew” how to get Osama Bin Laden during his campaign, but refused to share that information after having been defeated. Why does the GOP feel that their grand ideas for solving everything that ails the nation should be kept permanently under wraps? TIA. Continue reading Thanks in Advance
Having listened to the whinging of you Republicans who still don’t understand how you lost the election, I thought it might be helpful if I spelled it out for you. As always, please seek assistance if you don’t understand the big words.
Since Obama’s first inauguration in January 2009, you have (1) been almost solely focused on ways to ensure he was a one-term president, (2) obstructed every initiative made towards things like job creation and healthcare reform, and (3) sought ways to embarrass, humiliate, and disrespect the President of the United States.
You have (4) proclaimed your allegiance to people like Grover Norquist, while (5) completely ignoring the best interests of the people who elected you to represent them.
You have consistently (6) lied to your constituents, and the citizenry as a whole, often fabricating “facts” and statistics that have no basis in reality in an effort to mislead and misinform.
The speeches, comments and remarks of many on your side of the aisle have often (7) included “dog whistles” intended to appeal to bigots and racists, and you have stubbornly refused to disclaim such statements, or those who make them on your behalf.
You constantly berate liberals and Democrats as people who refuse to “take responsibility” for their words and actions, and yet you persist (8) in refusing responsibility for the current economic disaster directly caused by your own party and its last president, George W. Bush.
You have labelled the Obama administration (9) as being nothing more than a “tax-and-spend” administration, without (10) ever acknowledging how you cheered the out-of-control spending of the previous GOP administration, and remained silent as (11) two wars were launched without any notion of how they would be paid for, and (12) as the surplus Dubya had inherited was turned into unprecedented debt.
You have consistently looked out for (13) the welfare of the wealthiest individuals and corporations, while (14) turning a blind eye to the needs of the hard-working middle class and the working poor.
You have (15) persisted in promoting yourselves as the party of “good Christian values” while, at the same time, you strive to remove the safety net programs that assist the poor, the homeless, the sick and dying. You have decried Obamacare since its passage, (16) while offering no alternative policy that would meet the needs of those most in need, i.e. those who do not have the financial means to pay for the healthcare insurance they require.
You have (17) complained constantly about the need for less government interference in people’s lives when it comes to things like affordable healthcare coverage, but have (18) championed government interference when it includes denying women access to birth control, and their ultimate right to choose whether to carry a child or terminate a pregnancy.
You have (19) brandished your war sabers with complete abandon, despite the fact that you have consistently ignored the plight of the veterans who, after having valiantly served, find themselves in debt, unemployed, and facing hardships at home that no soldier should be forced to deal with.
You have (20) made every effort to suppress voting via draconian requirements that must be met to do so, and have targeted minorities who are most likely to vote against your party, rather than for it.
You have consistently supported candidates who are (21) demonstrably incompetent (i.e. Sarah Palin, Romney/Ryan), and (22) are ignorant the point of embarrassing stupidity (e.g. Romney stating that Iran is a landlocked country, allied with Syria as its “route to the sea”.)
Your party has (23) promoted the idea that our nation was founded as a Christian nation, which is completely contrary to the facts, and should (24) therefore seek to include Christianity in its laws and policies, without regard to other religious beliefs. In furtherance of this effort, you have (24) sought to replace scientific evidence with Biblical texts by teaching creationism, as an example, as an alternative to the known facts.
You have (25) dismissed those who rely on welfare, food stamps, veterans’ benefits, social security benefits, etc., as being parasites who refuse to take responsibility for their own lives. What’s worse is that you do so without any regard to those who are in dire straits as a direct result of your own party’s policies.
In addition, (26) you continue to insist that minorities are predominantly the recipients of such programs, completely contrary to the known statistics.
You (27) whine incessantly about people who blame the Dubya administration for the deficit, and the lack of regulatory oversight that led to a financial meltdown – and never, ever (28) acknowledge that the Dubya administration WAS in fact responsible for what happened, and how it happened.
You have the unmitigated gall to (29) question President Obama’s citizenship – which has been proven beyond all doubt – after you refused anyone the right to question (30) Dubya’s alleged fulfillment of his military service, which has yet to be proven.
You have been (31) steadfast in your assertion that the last GOP administration “kept the country safe” – while being (32) equally steadfast in your delusion that 9/11 never happened on Dubya’s watch, and that his promise to get Bin Laden, dead-or-alive, was accomplished not by him, but by the President who followed him.
You have (33) done everything in your power to diminish the rights of gays and lesbians, despite the fact that they are citizens whose rights should be as sacrosanct as those of any other American.
You continue (34) to hold the citizenry hostage while you play political games with issues like raising the debt ceiling – a concept (35) you had no problem dealing with when one of your own was in the Oval Office.
Now let’s get down to the recent election, and your esteemed nominee, shall we? Continue reading 50 Shades of Nay
For the past few days, I can’t help but wonder how Romney/GOP supporters have justified their support and votes to the people in their lives.
How did you explain to your daughters that you voted for the party that wants to curtail their rights, and thinks that a pregnancy resulting from “legitimate rape” is a blessing from God?
What did you say to the disabled vet down the street about how you voted for the candidate who didn’t think them important enough to make his “laundry list” in his speeches, and the party that consistently votes against initiatives to protect their rights, fund their ongoing care, and put them back to work?
Where did you find the words to explain to your neighbor with a pre-existing condition that you supported the party that wants to repeal Obamacare – leaving them uninsured and facing the possibility of bankruptcy due to medical bills?
How did you explain to those in your community who have had their jobs outsourced or disappeared that you stood in solidarity with the candidate who profited from that outsourcing, and who destroyed businesses for his own personal gain?
What did you tell your relatives – especially those living on the social security they earned, and those presently serving in the military – to justify having voted for a candidate who dismissed them as being part of the 47% who are parasites looking for a government handout, unwilling to accept responsibility for their own lives?
How did you explain to your children, who you have taught to tell the truth at all times, that you voted for the candidate who had lied consistently throughout his campaign?
What did you tell your unemployed friends about having voted for the party that has demonstrated its willingness to fight any initiatives that would expand the jobs market, simply because it would make Obama look bad if the unemployment numbers rose rather than diminished? Continue reading Just Wonderin’
After Obama’s re-election was declared, something both the SO and I never had any doubt would happen, we settled in front of the TV for what we’d long looked forward to as the most rewarding part of the evening: watching the GOP spokes-mouths and their RW pundit buddies cry and bemoan the outcome. Truth be told, we pumped up the volume way past acceptable, neighbor-friendly levels in the wee hours of the morning, so as not to miss the sound of teeth being gnashed and garments being rent.
Apparently, they were shocked to learn that their silver-spoon-fed candidate, who had flaunted his wealth and privileged status in front of the citizenry throughout his campaign, was not swept into power by the hard-working middle class whose jobs being outsourced served as a profit generator that increased his wealth as it destroyed lives.
They were dismayed to find out that a man who had evaded the draft during the Viet Nam years – instead choosing to fight in the hellhole that is Paris, France – was not embraced by the veterans who had served and sacrificed, nor the troops on the ground that he didn’t think were significant enough to even mention in his campaign speeches.
They were chagrined to discover that a man who dismissed 47% of the nation as lazy parasites did not capture the hearts-and-minds of those he’d labelled as irresponsible leeches looking for yet another government hand-out.
They were astounded that a man who talked about self-deportation and NAACPers looking to live on government handouts failed to secure the votes of minorities.
